General Information
Registration fees included or disclosed up front?: Not specified whether registration/convenience fees are added. Course Info: Welcome to the Lake George Triathlon Half Iron Distance Race and AquaBike! Our Half Iron distance race has been taking place since 2010 and is still growing! Our AquaBike race takes place at the same time. You will enjoy a great swim in beautiful Lake George followed by a great bike loop. The bike first climbs out of the basin and continues with scenic and fast ride along the Schroon River and around Brant Lake. It returns along the Schroon and descends back into Lake George. The run is a 2-loop course that is racer and spectator friendly with the majority taking place on a tree covered & paved bike trail. You will finish with Lake George as your backdrop and then relax and enjoy some great post-race food and Beverage. Aquabike racers will follow the same swim and bike route, rack their bikes and run down the finishing chute through the finish line.
More: We will have awards for the top 3 overall male and female finishers as well as age groups starting with 15-19. Swim waves will be announced about a week prior to the race and waves will be 4 minutes apart. There is no drafting on the course and we will have USAT officials on the course. Lake George is a great destination race with plenty of Hotels, Motels, cabins, camping and B & B's available and within walking distance... We also offer an Olympic distance Triathlon (Lake George Tri) the previous day. For those that want something a little more, we have the King George (Olympic & Half Iron) and the Prince George (Olympic & AquaBike) race categories.
Directions: Lake George is just about an hour north of Albany, NY located just off exit 21 of I-87. We are 3 hours south of Montreal, 3 hours north of NYC and about 3.5 hours west of Boston. It is very easy to get to.
Map location is based off of a geocode of the addressed entered using Google's Google Maps API. If your address does not geocode properly, you can either update the address (we will attempt to re-geocode after any updates to your entry) or you can use Google's geocoding tool found here: http://gmaps-samples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/geocoder/singlegeocode.html to obtain a lat/long for your location and enter that. To use the utility, type in an address that is close to your location and then drag-and-drop the marker to obtain the desired lat/long. If you choose to enter a lat/long, you must check the box on the edit page that says, "override geocode with entered lat/long."
