General Information

Course Info: Transition - The transition area is located on the north side of the South Shores Park parking lot, just west of the permanent restrooms.



Du Run - The runners will start on the driveway on the north side of the transition area. They will head west for 50 yards, then turn right towards the traffic circle. Moving around the circle in a clockwise direction, they will head south to the turn around marker in the northbound lane. At the marker, they will turnaround returning back to the transition area via the same route in the southbound lane and around the traffic circle in a clockwise direction.



Start - The start takes place on the south side of the boat launch ramp in the water about 20 yards from shore.



Swim - The swimmers will head east to the first swim marker. There, they will turn left passing the marker on their left shoulder. They will continue to the next marker. At the marker, they will make a 120 degree left shoulder turn. They will continue to the next turn marker. There, they will make a 90 degree left shoulder turn. They head to the last marker and make a right shoulder turn to the finish.



Bike - The cyclists will head out of the transition area onto the driveway. At the intersection on Sea World Drive, they will turn right on Sea World Dr. Just prior to the exit of Sea World, they will make a U-turn. At E. Mission Bay Dr., they will turn left. At Fiesta Island, they will turn left and circumnavigate Fiesta Island counterclockwise. They will complete 2 loops of Fiesta Island. At the end of the second loop, they will return back to the transition area at South Shores Park.



Run - The runners will head out of the transition area where they entered from the swim. They will follow the coned lane to the walkway. They will continue on the walkway east towards Fiesta Island. At the gazebo they will head onto the new walkway along the water. At the east end of the walkway, they will turn left on the sidewalk at E. Mission Bay Dr. They will head toward Fiesta Island and then u-turn and head back to South Shores Park. Prior to the South Shores boat launch ramp, they will be directed back out onto the walkway to complete a second loop. After finishing the second loop, they will be directed into the coned lane heading to the finish line.



Finish - The finish line is located next to the walkway about 100 yards from the swim start.

Directions: South Shores Park / Boat launch ramp is located just east of Sea World in San Diego. There is ample free on-site parking for the competitors, only yards away from the transition area. Additional parking is across Sea World Drive along the flood control channel.



For the safety of the competitors, South Shores Parking Lot will not re-open to allow vehicles to leave until 9 am. If you need to leave the race site before 9:00am, we recommend that you park along the flood control channel.



From Interstate 5: Exit Sea World Drive and head west on Sea World Drive. Go approximately ¾ mile to South Shores Park Road and turn right. Follow the road into the park.



From Interstate 8: Exit interstate I-5 north to Sea World Drive and head west on Sea World Drive. Go approximately ¾ mile to South Shores Park Road and turn right. Follow road into park.



Parking Instructions



Please plan to arrive no later than 6:15 am.



The Spring Sprint Triathlon will not be allowed to use the Sea World parking lot



PARKING OPTIONS:



South Shores Park (200 vehicles)



Opens at 5:00 am. Closes at 5:45 am, or when the lot is full. Vehicles parked in this lot will not be able to exit until 9:15 am



Flood Channel Road (200 vehicles)



Open at all time. Closes at 6:30 am. This area is across from South Shores Park. If you park here, use the west crosswalk to enter the park



Sunrunner Parking Lot (400 vehicles)



Opens at 5:30 am. Closes at 12:30 pm. Located at the corner of Sea World Drive and Pacific Hwy. It is approximately 1/3 mile from South Shores Park



Additional Parking (300 vehicles)



Tecolote Shores Park located on E. Mission Bay Dr. south of the Hilton and E. Mission Bay Drive



SEA WORLD DRIVE (westbound) at Pacific Hwy will be closed at 6:15 am



SPECTATORS: We recommend that spectators park along the Flood Control Channel. Spectators will need to arrive early!
