Course Info: This competitive sprint-distance race, great for both veteran and novice athletes is staged at beautiful Bixler Lake just north of Fort Wayne, with 500 meter lake swim, 12.75 mile bike race including highway straight-away and 5-K cross-country style run with a fun stretch through the Mid-America Outdoor Windmill Museum. The race includes individuals, two and three-person teams, youth 15-17 and Athena & Clydesdale divisions. The swim and run are laid-out in a spectator-friendly fashion, and the park setting, includes children’s play equipment to entertain younger spectators. New this year, on request, is a 5K Trail Run, which will start shortly after the swim start.
More: Awards are unique, created by northeast Indiana potters, artists and crafters. Overall, Masters, Split Winners, Athena, Clydesdale. Age-group winners by 5-year divisions recognized also.
Directions: Enter Bixler Lake Park from the Kendallville Outdoor Recreation Complex on Allen Chapel Road just south of US Highway 6: From Fort Wayne, Indiana, access Allen Chapel Road from State Road 3 north. From Indianapolis or Michigan, take I-69 to US Highway 6 (Kendallville) exit, continue west to left on Allen Chapel Road. From Chicago, take Indiana Toll Road, Exit 112 (Howe/LaGrange) to US Highway 6, east to Kendallville, right on Allen Chapel Road. From Ohio, east on Indiana Toll Road take Exit 144 (Angola) to US Highway 6 (Kendallville) exit, continue west to left on Allen Chapel Road.
