Course Info: The Sprint and Half Iron Triathlon starts at the Hemingway Marina with it’s quiet salt water channels, free of current or waves, where spectators can walk and cheer you on. The swim portion of the triathlon culminates in the same marina, which is where bike mount will take place when exiting transition #1. The bike course will be a real treat. Competitors will ride through the most exclusive neighborhood of Miramar, which features perfectly paved roads lined with hundreds of wonderful Caribbean trees, where most foreign embassies call their home. After dismounting in transition #2 in the famous Habana Malecon, the run portion of the race welcomes you with a walled boulevard that lies next to the Atlantic Ocean, where the public gathers to cheer each of the triathletes when crossing the finish line. You will find yourself surrounded by blue ocean waters and historic buildings with the unique background of the fortress guarding the entrance to Havana bay.
More: The Half Iron and Sprint Distance awards will be conducted at the end of both events on Saturday, February 25th. The ITU Sprint awards will take place at the end of the competition on Sunday, February 26th. The place and times will be published closer to the event date.
Map location is based off of a geocode of the addressed entered using Google's Google Maps API. If your address does not geocode properly, you can either update the address (we will attempt to re-geocode after any updates to your entry) or you can use Google's geocoding tool found here: http://gmaps-samples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/geocoder/singlegeocode.html to obtain a lat/long for your location and enter that. To use the utility, type in an address that is close to your location and then drag-and-drop the marker to obtain the desired lat/long. If you choose to enter a lat/long, you must check the box on the edit page that says, "override geocode with entered lat/long."
