Course Info: The one loop swim takes place in Keuka Lake, a fairly calm lake, in the Finger Lakes Region of NY State. The course is expected to be either a triangular or rectangular loop (depending on wind and surface chop). The water temperature is typically in the 60s to low 70s. Wetsuits will be allowed.
The one loop bike course takes place on fairly smooth roads. The bike course is mainly flat with a mix of some rolling hills. There is one 0.5 mile moderate climb that might give you a little trouble but overall you can move on this course!
This incredible run course features some spectacular scenery. There are a few rolling hills, but overall triathletes will find this a fast, fair run course. The running surface of this course consists of pavement. There will be three aid station approx. 1 mile apart with water and HEED.

More: Welcome to the Keuka Lake Triathlon & Duathlon. This year's event will be a USAT sanctioned race. This event is produced in cooperation with the help and support from the American Red Cross, Keuka College, and endless volunteers.

THE RACE DATE/TIME/FIELD: June 3, 2012 at 07:30am, Keuka College campus. Wetsuits are allowed/encouraged. The typical water temperature can range from 55' to 70' F and has been in the mid 60's the last two years, air temperatures average 55' to 75' F. Race management reserves the right to accept or reject any entry. The recommended age to compete in the short triathlon, intermediate triathlon, aquabike short and duathlon is 15 years of age. The required age to compete in the kid's triathlon is between 7-14 years of age. There is a race limit of 700 athletes and the first 600 registered in an adult race with receive a custom logo race hat.

ABOUT THE EVENT: There will be four adult courses to choose from. The short triathlon, intermediate triathlon, aquabike and the duathlon. There will be relay teams allowed for each of these three courses. There will also be a kid's triathlon offered. Further descriptions of each course will be forthcoming.


NO RAIN DATE: There is NO rain date, We Go Rain or Shine. In case of inclement weather, management reserves the right to alter/modify the race/course for safety concerns. In the case of a "Natural Disaster"/Local Incident/Terrorist Act, there will be No Refunds of race entry fees. Each athlete must except any such risk of their entry fee paid. There is no complementary race entry to a future race. We pledge to make every effort to produce a fair, safe and exciting event for all. Any decision we make to go forth with the race is based on the overall event safety. Management further reserves the right to reject or accept any race entry. Keuka Lake Triathlon will utilize a "wave" start format.

KEUKA LAKE TRIATHLON AWARDS: NO duplication of awards. Ceremony begins approximately 12 Noon with under the Score This!!! Multisport Series tent.


AWARDS: Girt Certificates from Bert's Bikes and Fitness for the overall male and female in the intermediate ($100) and sprint ($50) tri's. Top 3 Age-Group finish times in intermediate tri, short tri, and duathlon. AGE GROUP AWARDS: Top 3: 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, etc. thru 85+ including Clydesdale/Athena. (divisions subject to change due to entries received).

RELAYS: Top 3 Intermediate Relay, Top 3 Short Relay, Top 3 Duathlon Relay
***Note-Aquabike athletes are not eligible for awards, but do receive all other race amenities

Directions: From the Northeast (Syracuse, Albany):
Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 42, "Geneva". Follow Route 14 south through Geneva to Dresden. Turn right onto Route 54 to Penn Yan. Where the road comes to a "T", turn left onto Main Street, and turn right at the first traffic light onto Elm Street (Route 54A). Follow "From Penn Yan" directions below.



From the Northwest (Rochester, Buffalo):
Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 44, "Canandaigua". Follow Route 332 south into Canandaigua. Turn left onto Routes 5&20 heading east. Approximately 9 miles outside of Canandaigua, turn right onto County Route 5, where the sign points to "Hall" and "Penn Yan". Keep going straight on that road into Penn Yan. At the fifth traffic light, turn right onto Elm Street (Route 54A). Follow "From Penn Yan" directions below.

From the Southwest (Jamestown, Erie):
Take Route 17 (I-86) to the first "Bath" exit. Follow Route 54 north (lake on your left) into Penn Yan. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Liberty Street (Route 14A). At the second traffic light, turn left onto Elm Street (Route 54A). Follow "From Penn Yan" directions below.

From the Southeast (Binghamton, New York):
Take Route 17 (I-86) to the Route 14 exit in Elmira. Follow the signs for Route 14 north. Two miles north of Watkins Glen, take Route 14A, where the sign points to "Dundee" and "Penn Yan". Follow Route 14A through Dundee to Penn Yan. At the fourth traffic light, turn left onto Elm Street (Route 54A). Follow "From Penn Yan" directions below.

From Penn Yan:
Follow Route 54A south out of Penn Yan for 4 miles. Turn left onto Central Avenue (you will see a sign for Keuka College). Central Avenue will bring you into Keuka's campus (less than 1/2 mile). Turn left at the first stop sign, this is the main entrance to the campus. Parking will be available on your left and your right. As you enter the main entrance veer to the right and Dahlstrom is the 3rd building on your left.
