Course Info: Course Details

Swim: The swim course is a 1500 meter rectangular course in the brackish James River. The start and finish alternate each year between the beach next to ferry and the beach downriver from the 4H center (tide dependent). The water temperature is expected to be in the upper 70′s. A preliminary water temperature will be posted on the website on the Thursday prior to the event. An official reading will be taken race morning. There is a current in this swim course, be sure to practice swimming across currents and how to take advantage of them.

Bike: The bike course is fast and mostly flat. There are a couple rollers and sections of false flat on this course but you can ride the entire way in your big ring. Once you are 12 miles into the bike course, International Distance athletes will turn around and ride back to the race site.

Run: The run course is FANTASTIC and one of the most popular in the VTS! This course is a combination of asphalt bike paths, wooden bridges and VERY well maintained pea gravel and mulched jogging trails. There is not a hill anywhere on this course. Athletes will be greeted with a 1 loop course with well stocked aid stations at least every mile throughout. Each aid station will have water, gatorade, ice, flat Coke, Chex mix, orange quarters, and a porta jon.

AQUA BIKE Category is available for Men & Women!

Post Race Food: Come ready to race and leave full and tired. We will have, pizza, BBQ and vegetarian options available. You can even do your cool down at Busch Gardens or Water Country!

More: The Patriot’s International: Located on the James River next to the Jamestown settlement, centerpiece for the 400th celebration of Jamestown. Just minutes from I-64 in Williamsburg, VA the Patriot’s Half is a must do event. After a 1500 meter swim in the James River athletes will ride through 24 miles of rural countryside on mostly flat terrain and good pavement. Once you have laced up your running shoes you’ll be treated to a flat and fast 6.2 mile run on a combination of bike paths and jogging trails. Run in conjunction with the Patriots Half, you’ll have a great weekend in Williamsburg!

Be sure to even get in a day or two early to get your race packet, check out the race site and experience experience all that the greater Williamsburg area has to offer, including modern attractions, amusements, and historical sites from Jamestown to Yorktown.

Map location is based off of a geocode of the addressed entered using Google's Google Maps API. If your address does not geocode properly, you can either update the address (we will attempt to re-geocode after any updates to your entry) or you can use Google's geocoding tool found here: http://gmaps-samples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/geocoder/singlegeocode.html to obtain a lat/long for your location and enter that. To use the utility, type in an address that is close to your location and then drag-and-drop the marker to obtain the desired lat/long. If you choose to enter a lat/long, you must check the box on the edit page that says, "override geocode with entered lat/long."
